The Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC), with the assistance of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, arrested a Lafayette area business owner for selling alcoholic beverages without a valid state alcohol permit. Muhammad Amersi, the owner of SM Hamani LLC, conducting business as Tiger Stop #3, was arrested on the evening of June 17, 2015, after an undercover compliance check by ATC revealed that the business was operating illegally.

During the compliance check conducted at the business, located at 225 West Milton Avenue in Milton, Louisiana, an underage operative was able to purchase a 25 oz. beer from an employee at the store. The location was recently denied an alcohol permit by ATC, prohibiting the business from selling alcohol.

“Not only was this business operating illegally, they sold alcohol to an operative who was only 16 years old,” said ATC Commissioner Troy Hebert. “This sort of disregard for the law will not be tolerated.”

Amersi (35 yrs.) was contacted by ATC following the compliance check and arrived at the store, at which time he was placed under arrest for illegally operating a business without a valid state alcohol permit.

Amersi was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
