Lafayette Police say they have arrested a man in connection with yesterday’s carjacking of a 62-year-old woman.

The incident happened around 8 a.m. in a parking lot on West University Avenue.

Sergeant Kyle Soriez said the suspect, Ronald Rice, 49, of Lafayette, has been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder.

Rice is accused of stealing the woman’s car at knifepoint and injuring her.

The woman is still hospitalized and remains in stable condition.

A court date has been set for Rice at 8 a.m. on April 1, 2016.
