The following is a release from the Lafayette Police Department:
On Tuesday, September 8th, 2015, Lieutenant Steven M. Bergeron died at his home with family members after a short battle with an illness. Lieutenant Bergeron was a 25 year veteran of the Lafayette Police Department.
He served as a Patrol Officer, Detective, Internal Affairs Investigator, Planning and Research Sergeant and as the Administrative Lieutenant for Precinct 3 at the time of his death. Lt. Bergeron or as he was known to his co-workers, “Stevie B.” was an important part of the Lafayette Police Department Family and will be missed greatly.
Our condolences are with his wife of 28 years and their two children.
Visitation will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 9:00 am until time of the service at 11:00 am. Lt. Bergeron was 51 years of age at the time of his death.
