LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)—Lafayette Consolidated Government to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Telemedicine Clinic.

The LCG is going to celebrate the clinic on May 3, 2016 at City Hall on University Avenue at 1:30 p.m.

During the celebration a brief presentation will be held and small group tours of the clinic will follow.

The anniversary celebration will feature local government officials.

The clinic links the government’s 2,200 employees to physicians with Lafayette General Heath, and saw its first patient on March 16, 2015.

Telemedicine allows a doctor to visit with a patient in a different location via high-speed internet connection.

Tools, such as a digital stethoscope or otoscope, transmit accurate and real-time readings to the physician’s office.

Nurses at the LCG clinic aids the patient and serves as a communication liaison for the physician.
