The Lafayette Parish School System blue ribbon committee is working toward providing a recommendation to the board on the definition of a classroom teacher.

The board is paying attention to how the definition pertains to the inclusion of employees on the teacher salary schedule funded by the 2002 half cent sales tax. There have been questions regarding who should truly qualify for the teacher bonus checks that come from the proceeds of the tax.

The discussion, set for Tuesday at 6 p.m., could help pinpoint a better definition, which would provide a new list of bonus check worthy employees.
