Due to the threat of severe weather the Lafayette Parish School System has cancelled all after-school activities scheduled for Tuesday, according to Mona Bernard the Director of Risk Management.
Earlier this afternoon Bernard issued the following statement:
“We have decided to cancel all after-school activities and Adult Education classes for Lafayette Parish public schools. There is one exception: after-school care (day care offered by some elementary schools) will remain open. We are canceling these activities because of the storms threatening the area later this afternoon, and we want to minimize the number of families who have to get out on the roads during the heavy rains which are predicted. Call if you have any questions.”
As of right now, both classes and after-school activities will continue as scheduled for Wednesday.
KFLY is monitoring both the weather and area school closures and will bring you more information as it becomes available.
