KENNER, La. – A machete-wielding man was shot Friday night at New Orleans’ Louis Armstrong International Airport. It happened at a security checkpoint in Concourse B. Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said Richard White, 63, sprayed a TSA agent in the face with wasp spray.
He sprayed a second agent, then pulled out a machete and struck a third agent. That agent grabbed a piece of luggage for protection and called a non-TSA officer for help. As White continued to chase the agent, an officer showed up on scene and fired three times, striking White. White was unresponsive and taken to a hospital.
