Ahead of the storm, airlines canceled more than 3,000 flights scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.

In a few major northeast hubs, several airlines intend to shut down operations Tuesday. The backlog is expected to make traveling a nightmare through the end of the week.

With up to three feet of snow expected in places like New York City and Boston, of course flights are going to be grounded. But, if you plan on flying in Lafayette, you’re good to go.

Connecting flights from Lafayette to Houston, Atlanta and even Denver are on schedule as of now. The problem occurs for travelers heading further north. Flights from Atlanta to New York and Houston to NYC, flights are cancelled as well. If you’re planning to visit the Michigan area, all flights from Houston to Detroit have been delayed.

Just to kind of give you an idea of the severity of this blizzard, Mayor Bill De Blasio of New York banned all private cars from using the city’s streets after 11 PM.

Along with New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Philadelphia governors have all declared a state of emergency.
