Lafayette, LA  — In an effort to keep downtown Lafayette clean, Project Front Yard is helping to coordinate a weekly Sunday morning cleanup of the downtown area.

This weekly effort is being funded by the Downtown Lafayette Restaurant and Bar Association (DLRBA), Chase Tower, The Lemoine Company and the Downtown Development Authority (DDA). These groups have come together with a shared passion for a cleaner downtown and are dedicating the financial resources to find a solution. The funding will provide a special cleanup crew concentrating on the downtown area, beginning on Sunday, April 5 and continuing every Sunday morning throughout 2015.

President of the Downtown Lafayette Restaurant and Bar Association Gus Rezende stated, “DLRBA is very proud to be a key partner in the overall effort to address Sunday morning litter in downtown Lafayette.”

Katherine McCormick, Project Front Yard Coordinator added, “We have heard from so many people about wanting a cleaner downtown on Sunday mornings. In response, we worked with willing and generous partners to put together a program that is a win-win for downtown Lafayette businesses and visitors. Chase Tower, DDA, DLBRA and The Lemoine Company should be applauded for helping to lead the community in this effort.”

While these Sunday cleanup efforts are not a call to action for volunteers, Project Front Yard encourages Lafayette residents to pick up litter along our street side every day of the week.
