Reward offered for information about escaped inmate

The reward for two-time escapee Theobegi Levier has been increased from $2,500 to $3,500 and The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information on Levier’s whereabouts to contact their office, call 911, or St. Landry Crimestoppers.

Levier escaped from the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s custody April 13, overpowering a deputy on the way to a health unit for medical assistance. Police say he was handcuffed during the escape.  Levier was being held for trial in a Eunice shooting in which police have said they suspect Levier lured the victim under the guise of wanting to buy drugs, but instead allegedly robbed and shot him in the neck.

When police arrested Levier on Feb. 7, he broke through the window of the Opelousas City Marshal’s Unit and escaped. Levier evaded authorities for about three weeks until he was arrested in Ville Platte by police responding to a stolen vehicle call.
