The following is a release from the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office: 

According to Sheriff Mike Couvillon members of the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division, SRT members, Narcotics Units and Patrol Division arrested Kendall LaShawn Hines b/m 34yoa without incident in Abbeville this afternoon on an outstanding warrant for Attempted 2^nd Murder, Carrying of a firearm by a convicted Felon, and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property.

Sheriff Couvillon says that although he cannot get into the specifics with regards to the investigation, he says that assistance was requested earlier today by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office where the crime was committed.

Sheriff Couvillon did say however, that when attempting to make apprehensions on subjects wanted in connection with violent crimes it is imperative that an operational plan of action be taken to ensure the safety of all involved and certainly when an arrest of a violent criminal can be made without incident it means those efforts were well planned and carried out to perfection.

Hines was transported to the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center for booking and will be later transported back to St. Mary Parish.
