PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (KLFY)— Louisiana State Troopers make an arrest in the connection of a body found in the median of I-10.
Troopers tell KLFY they have arrested 25-year-old Brodnick Whittington of St. James, La. for his connection in the death of 35-year-old Jenise Williams of Harvey, La.
Authorities tell KLFY that Whittington was arrested for Felony hit and run, obstruction of justice, driving under suspension, and open container.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on May 14, 2016, Troopers from Louisiana Police Troop A responded to I-10 westbound, east of LA 73 for a single vehicle crash involving a 1997 Ford F150.
The vehicle had been moved from the original crash scene and Troopers say, they located it parked on the shoulder with heavy damage to the front end.
Authorities say they were able to determine that Brodnick Whittington was the driver of the vehicle but left the scene prior to police showing up.
According to Troopers, Whittington was contacted by phone, News 10 was told by officials that he refused to return to the scene.
The vehicle was impounded.
Two days later on May 16, 2016, a grass cutting crew located the body of Jenise Williams in the median of I-10 West of the LA 74 overpass.
Officials with the Louisiana State Police tell KLFY that they were able to determine the victim, Jenise Williams, was struck by a vehicle.
Williams’ body and Whittington’s vehicle were located nearly a quarter of a mile apart and believed to be connected.
An arrest warrant for Whittington was obtained by Louisiana State troopers and he was located shortly before 2:00 p.m. on May 17, 2016, in Gonzales, Louisiana.
Brodnick Whittington was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
