The Acadia Parish sheriff’s office has a suspect in custody in connection to the death of a Lake Arthur toddler last summer.

Brittany Marie Prejean (24) of Rayne was arrested without incident. She was charged with first degree murder for the death of Keaghyn Parsons. Prejean is currently Keaghyn’s father fiancé. No bond has been set at this time.

Back on May 19th, the three year old boy was visiting his father. Prejean was watching Keaghyn while his father was work, when he allegedly collapsed. He was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Acadia Parish sheriff’s office declared the toddler’s death a homicide a month later. An autopsy revealed a hole in the small intestine caused by blunt force to the abdomen. Authorities believed he received the fatal injury while under Prejean’s care.
