THIBODAUX, La. (AP) – State officials say a Thibodaux city councilman has been sentenced to jail after he pleaded guilty to hunting ducks with lead shot and violating a three-year federal probation that included a hunting ban.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said in a news release Wednesday 67-year-old Lloyd Badeaux was fined $560 for hunting with lead shot and sentenced to 30 days in jail for violating his probation.

Wildlife and Fisheries officials say 76-year-old Bobby Chauvin, of Theriot, Badeaux’s hunting partner, was also fined $560 for using lead shot.

In 2013, Badeaux was fined $5,010 and sentenced to a three-year hunting probation, which included a hunting ban, after he shot and killed more than 50 ducks – a number well over the legal limit – near Dularge in 2011.
