VERMILION PARISH, La. (KLFY) – In a series of shooting and murders in Vermillion Parish- the “Gremlin Gang” has made their presence known in the parish once again.

Documents show most of the recent shootings are connected to specific gang members.

Sources tell us, some of the shootings are being done to retaliate against others.

Some of the members going as far as trying to plan a murder- while they’re in jail.

Roland Bernard III is named as one of the gang members according to court documents.

Earlier in November of 2020, his father was killed in a shooting.

Bernard was in jail at the time for attempting to kill someone in a drive by shooting in September.

During his time in jail, sources say Bernard attempted to have someone killed.

In this Ten News investigation, we’ve learned many of the gang members have lengthy criminal histories, most of the activity starting again in 2014.

Yet- some of them have never faced the judge for their crimes.

Roland Bernard III is one of the many who has been waiting years for his trial.

He was charged with attempted first degree murder in 2014. The case has never gone to trial.

News Ten has learned he has had nine different attorneys working on his case, a new one being assigned every few months.
