UPDATE (6:00 p.m.): ABBEVILLE, La. (KLFY) — Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Eddie Langlinais says the vehicle involved in a homicide investigation was found at the corner of South State Street and Ninth Street.
The initial incident happened on South Guegnon Road. Someone called thinking some jumped out of or was thrown from a vehicle, but when deputies arrived they realized the person was shot multiple times Langlinais said.
We reached out to the Vermilion Parish Coroner’s Office for an identity, but they were not able to release one as of Monday evening.
VPSO did not release any information on a person of interest or suspect yet.
Deputies say they are keeping some information close to their chest because they don’t want to hinder the investigation.
“Just be patient. Our investigators are still actively investigating it,” Langlinais encouraged. “Being it is a homicide, we want to get the facts and all the evidence correct. There are no second chances.”
