Train containing hazardous material derails in Scott

A train carrying in hydrochloric acid derailed Saturday morning in Scott, prompting crews from Baton Rouge to come in to fix the tracks and move the train.

Chief Chad Sonnier, with the Scott Fire Department, tells News 10 they got a call early Saturday morning about atrain being derailed on Pecan Grove Road.

He says his first concern was whether the chemicals had spilled, but after getting to the area they found the cars up straight. Their only worry, then, was fixing the tracks and getting the train rolling once again.

Sonnier tells us, this is the exact same location where a train derailed back in 2016.
